Extent

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 38 Jhajharpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Jhanjharpur and Lakhnaur community development blocks; Pachahi, Parsad, Banki, Bhit Bhagwanpur, Mahasingh Hasauli,Manmohan and Parwalpur gram panchayats of Madhepur CD Block.[1]

Jhanjharpur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 7 Jhanjharpur (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

Results

1977-2010

In the November 2010, October 2005, and February 2005 state assembly elections, Nitish Mishra of JD(U) won the Jhanjharpur assembly seat defeating his nearest rivals, Jagat Narain Singh of RJD in November 2010, Ram Autar Chaudhury of RJD in October 2005 and Jagdish Narayan Chaudhury of RJD in February 2005. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Jagdish Narayan Chaudhury of RJD defeated Nitish Mishra of BJC(R) in 2000. Ram Awtar Chaudhury of JD defeated Deo Chandra Jha of Congress in 1995. Jagannath Mishra of Congress defeated Arun Lal Das of JD in 1990, Ras Lal Yadav of LD in 1985, Ram Deo Bhandari of Janata Party (JP) in 1980 and Jagdish Narain Chaudhury of JP in 1977.[2][3]
